Semler Scientific is doubling down on its Bitcoin bet. The healthcare tech firm just announced a bold multi-year plan to accumulate 105,000 BTC by the end of 2027—and they’ve tapped Joe Burnett as Director of Bitcoin Strategy to help make it happen.
The company, which became the second U.S. public firm to adopt Bitcoin as its primary treasury reserve in 2024, recently added 185 BTC between May 23 and June 3. That $20 million haul pushed Semler’s total stash to 4,449 BTC, now valued around $446.2 million.
Big Ambitions and a Familiar Face
Joe Burnett isn’t new to the Bitcoin space. He previously served as Director of Market Research at Unchained and helped build one of the largest mining platforms in the U.S. during his time at Blockware Solutions. Now he’s joining Semler with a clear mission.
“We are excited to have Joe join our Bitcoin strategy team,” said Chairman Eric Semler. “His experience and thought leadership will be key as we aim for our three-year goal of owning 105,000 Bitcoins.”
The company has mapped out specific milestones: 10,000 BTC by the end of this year, 42,000 by 2026, and the full 105,000 by 2027.
Yielding Results and Fueling Growth
Since kicking off its Bitcoin Standard in May 2024, Semler claims to have locked in a 287% BTC yield, translating to a $177 million gain through June 3, 2025. Year-to-date, their Bitcoin yield sits at an impressive 26.7%.
To fund the effort, Semler is tapping a mix of operating cash flow and capital raised from equity and debt offerings. Just since April, their stock sale program has brought in roughly $136.2 million. All told, the company says it has spent $410 million acquiring its Bitcoin at an average price of $92,158.

A Long-Term Bet on BTC
“The global monetization of Bitcoin is underway,” Burnett said, calling BTC a “superior form of money.” He added that the trend of companies adopting Bitcoin as part of their treasury strategies is only picking up steam—and Semler plans to stay ahead of the curve.
With a clear roadmap and an experienced hand at the wheel, Semler Scientific is going all-in on Bitcoin—and they don’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon.
