The zkEVM prover allows generating ZK-proofs for mainnet Ethereum blocks at an average cost of 0.02-0.03 cents per transaction. Polygon co-founder Brendan Farmer stated this prover disproves claims that layer 1 provers are impractical due to cost.

Farmer explained that the prover upgrades any EVM chain into a zkEVM layer 2 that connects to Ethereum’s layer 1. This allows users to verify proofs instead of running full nodes, providing “full node security guarantees without the hassle.”
